Training
Whether
you have a 10 week old puppy or a newly adopted dog, training
is the best way to build and strengthen the bond between dog and
owner. Our instructors use positive training methods to get your
dog working with you in exchange for rewards. Yappie Cuttery offers
group classes, private lessons and a day school program to train
your dog.
Positive Training
Gone are the days where you pull, push or force your dog to sit.
At Yappie Cuttery, our trainers use positive reinforcement training
to motivate your dog. Your dog earns food, praise and life rewards
(like play) by first doing what you want them to; it’s a
win-win relationship for dog and owner.
Group Classes
Yappie Cuttery offers a variety of group classes to bet suit your
training needs:
• Basic Obedience Class I: Up to 5 months.
Meets for 1 hour and 15 minutes for 7 weeks. Covers basic commands:
sit, down, stay, come, walking on leash. Limited to 10 dogs.
• Basic Obedience Class II: 5 months and
up. Meets for 1 hour a week for 7 weeks. Covers basic commands:
sit, down, stay, come, walking on leash. Limited to 10 dogs.
• Right Track Training: For puppies and
dogs that have difficulty with commands. Class goal is to enhance
dog/handler communication skills. Meets for 1 hour a week for
7 weeks. Limited to 8 dogs.
• Advanced Behavior: For older dogs that
need a refresher class on commands, with an emphasis on response
and reliability. Meets for 1 hour and 30 minutes a week for 5
weeks. Limited to 8 dogs.
• Stay and Learn: Don’t have the
time for training? You pet will stay with us for a week overnight.
• Agility I: An introduction to agility.
Meets 1 hour a week for 8 weeks.
• Agility II: Builds on skills of Agility
I. Meets 1 hour a week for 8 weeks.
Private Lessons
Private lessons are one on one training sessions in your home
or at our facility.If your schedule is too hectic to take a group
class, we suggest private lessons for obedience, problem solving
and behavior modification. Private lessons are great to address
specific behavior problems and often are just what an owner needs
to get going in the right direction. Please call for pricing.
Stay and Learn
While your dog is boarding or in doggie daycare, you can enroll
in Stay and Learn. A trainer works one on one with your dog and
included are two, one hour private training sessions for the owner
to review everything that your dog was taught during their stay
with us! A credit card number is required to make a Stay and Learn
reservation. Reservations cancelled without 72 hours notice, are
subject to a nonrefundable charge.
Trainers
Our certified trainers are always learning the latest training
techniques to pass along to our students and we are committed
to providing the best instruction in dog training.
Our Facility
Classes are held in our dog play rooms and feature non-skid flooring
that’s easy on your dog’s paws and great for off leash
play! We also have a security fenced outdoor area that’s
great for training around distractions. You are always welcome
to observe our instructors if you’re interested in taking
a class.
Yappie
Cuttery is Proud To Introduce Rodney Turner as One of our Trainers.
Rodney has been a dog trainer for twenty-seven years;
he has trained dogs for use in the military, as well as state,
county, and federal law enforcement. For the past ten years he
has trained dogs in obedience for homeowners.
He
uses a reward and praise style of training. No hitting, yelling
or use of shock or pinch collars. He trains in the dog’s
environment and only with family at a time.
